South Korea Bans Video Games After Midnight

Video game addiction is a pretty serious problem in some countries like China and South Korea. Hell, even here in the States there’s some pretty crazy situations. Wow kid anyone?

So the South Korean Gov’t has decided that they can do better then parents and will shut down Internet connections for six hours a night to throttle game addiction. It’ll start at 12am and last for six hours. You can lag your shut-off time to start anywhere from 12-2am, but either way, it’s six hours of darkness and no purples. We imagine they’ll relax this rule when Starcraft 2 launches, as we assume even the Prime Minister and his cabinet will be involved in Zerg rushes.

Only some games will be affected, with a list of 19 games currently on it. It doesn’t end there though, if you’re ‘caught’ playing games for six or more straight hours during the day, your bandwidth will be throttled. Ouch.

At least here, our Gov’t only tries to blame WoW.
