Samus is a legendary Nintendo character. Most people that grew up on the 8-bit and 16-bit systems will at least be somewhat familiar with Samus kicking ass in her red robot suit.
Now it appears we’re going to get a more in-depth look at the past, character, and motivations of Samus in the upcoming new Nintendo title, Metroid: Other M. And in case you’re wondering, yes, they still made Samus a babe.
Metroid Franchise’s Heroine Gets Personal
For decades, Samus Aran has been known as one of the first female protagonists in video games, and one of the most enigmatic. Having traded her haunted past for the solitary life of a bounty hunter, Samus™ finally tells her own tale in this revealing, personal story of her failings, her flaws and ultimately her motivation. Metroid: Other M is an unprecedented collaboration that blends the slick, action-packed production of the world-renowned Team Ninja development team with the game design talents of the creators of the original Metroid. Metroid: Other M is a dramatic new direction for a legendary franchise and a bold new blend between cinematics, storytelling and the best in interactive entertainment.
The trailer looks beautiful and the cityscape’s look impressive. It boasts a new story line that will mix both 1st person shooter and 3rd party adventure game atmospheres. It seriously looks to have potential, even for serious gamers, and that’s noteworthy considering it’s coming out on the Wii. We’re looking at a June 27th release. The trailer, as always, is included. Enjoy!

Say what now?
How was that Metroid? At least put a cameo of one of the little energy suckers or her future helmet in there. If you hadn’t told me, and it hadn’t said at the end of the video I would have never guessed what that was advertising.
