Flash Games as Political Commentary?

Flash games seem to come out these days just to make statements. Whether or not its an Iphone game where you shake babies, or you’re attempting to bring down the President’s health-care plans using lasers, there’s all sorts of weird little Flash games coming out these days with little more purpose then gaining popularity off current news stories.

Which brings me to our current game called Tax Time! Which is a tasteless, and mostly boring game created in response to Joe Stack and his recent attack on an IRS building with his own personal plane that resulted in his death and the death of one IRS employee.

The game is just as tasteless as any of these weak Flash games you’d see. There’s zero skill, it’s a minute to two-minute window of game-play, and it’s boring.

There is no other apparent reason for this game, other then simply trying to exploit the popularity and sensitivity of the subject. Overall, it’s very weird to see gaming being manipulated by mainstream news events and used as almost as shock value political commentary. Of course… It is a Newgrounds game, and they are notorious for these types of time-wasting Mad-magazine-type games. Thanks.

It isn’t the first time, and it certainly won’t be the last. You can check it out here if you’re so inclined.
