Solomon Kane is a character invented by the late Robert E. Howard. Yes, THAT Robert E. Howard, the sword-and-sorcery writer who gave us Conan, Kull, and a bloody fistfull of other memorable characters. Well, Solomon Kane is a bit more obscure than Conan, but he’s basically a battle-pilgrim, fighting evil, hunting down demons, rebelling against authority — yeah, well, so he’s basically Conan set in the 1600s. The bottom line is that someone had the foresight to make this into a movie, and the trailer just got released. First, the brooding poster, then the trailer, in all it’s bloody, demon-fighting glory.

I read alot of Howard’s stuff as a kid, but never read Solomon Kane. From the looks of things, it’s of the same dark spirit that his other work is from – violent, somber, and full of action. Looks good.
I read a couple of Kane stories a long time ago. They were pretty good, although the main character was a weird mix of barbarian hero and Puritan. I’m definitely going to see the movie.
This looks like it could be pretty awesome.
