Twilight is the new Potter, some would say, in terms of hype anyways… Except it seems to draw in a certain… crowd. Not only has Twilight created it’s own religion, Burger King has a new campaign promoting the ‘battle’ and I use that world extremely loosely here, between the sides apparently picking between the hot boyz of Twilight as the lovers quarrel ‘heats’ up in New Moon.

Seriously, check out the commercial.

This commercial makes the Burger King guy seem LESS creepy. It didn’t seem possible for anything in this world to make that plastic-faced King less creepy, but this has succeeded. This ‘choosing sides’ phenomena is getting out of control, with multiple websites highlighting the fight. Hell, Nordstrom is even releasing their own clothing line for the whole ordeal, and don’t forget your fan pack from BK, it includes a water bottle! Take a look at this excerpt of a quote from Fanhistory on the subject of this feud;

“There is a sometimes intense feud going on between Edward Cullen fans and Jacob Black fans, though the overwhelming majority support Edward, who is Bella’s choice as well. The feud dissipated somewhat when Jacob imprinted on Edward and Bella’s daughter Renesmee in the final novel, “Breaking Dawn”. Most fans choose sides in the feud, “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob”, but a small percentage support both (sometimes referred to as being like Switzerland), and an even smaller percentage think Bella should choose neither.”

Look at the depth there! This was written by someone who truly wanted to remain bias on a seemingly ‘important’ topic, on top of that, they even throw in a Switzerland reference to highlight neutrality?!  But I do believe I am beginning to see a pattern here… We’ve got religion, idolization, two different sides, yes… I believe we’re starting to see the beginning of a war in the making, folks.

And with that, we must be wary in the days to come as the unfolding events may forever go down in history as the war that tore apart the United States, heck, the world, once and for all. Here’s my favorite quote that I stumbled across while searching through the hordes of Twilight pages and comments.

“TEAM EDWARD ALL THE WAY! I’M OBSESSED WITH TWILIGHT, BECAUSE THEY’RE SUCH AMAZING BOOKS! AND, ROBERT PATTINSON IS INCREDIBLY HOT AND TALENTED!” - Random Jane Doe

Thanks, Jane. We’ll keep that in mind before we make our decision.
