After Jeff’s thorough break-down of the ubernerd nerdgasm going on with Klingon’s right now, I only thought it’d be appropriate to brush on the progress of Star Trek Online.
The game is scheduled for a February release next year, and looks pretty solid so far. You’ll get to fly a ship, shoot lasers, beam down onto planets and run around to explore… Generally all the things you’d wanna do in the Star Trek universe, except for playing with Tribbles. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
The sound effects are spot on, and even the Borg are gonna show up for the party. Battles look fun, and the game doesn’t seem the least bit boring. Over all, it seems to have a lot of potential. You can sign up for the beta here, of course you’ll need a Cryptic account to do so and they’re first come first serve. The beta will be held from January 12th – 26th of 2010.
I’ve also included the newest HD gameplay trailer of STO, and a 2-parter that highlights some general info and storyline for the upcoming title. They’re good views, and pretty short. Check it out!
