I remember back when Friday’s used to mean a mile run in PE class. Now, they get you free game time! Well, kind of.
Microsoft is now offering Free XBox live Gold features to Silver members on the weekends. Giving them a new opportunity to test out all their new features, like access to Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM. The goal is to try and get everyone connected and online using the new social networking features, as Microsoft wants Xbox Live to become ‘the largest social network connected to TV.’
Microsoft seems to have foreseen the addictive capacity of their console, and they didn’t jump on the free-weekend offering a minute too late. A boy in Chicago called 911 this weekend to get clarification if his parents had the legal right to take away his Xbox. What the kid did to get it taken away, was unknown. The police responded by telling the kid that his parents did indeed have the right to take away his console. We hope he didn’t respond like the WoW kid. Well, at least we know our emergency services are being put to good use!
If you don’t have an Xbox, and are looking for more PC fun… Mythic is now offering a free ‘endless trail’ for Warhammer players, probably taking a hint from the success Dungeons and Dragons Online has had with their free campaign. You get unlimited access to the Tier 1 areas of the game, however for further access, you’ll have to cough up some cash. If you haven’t cut off any dwarven heads yet, this is a great opportunity to join the war!
Lastly, I recently posted a review highlighting the love and badassery that isDragon Age Origins. BioWare isn’t wasting any time, and they already have a CHEAP and exciting new downloadable content coming this holiday season. It’s a return to Ostagar, the beginning area of DAO that was ravaged by the Blright hordes (just think LoTR). Check it out! (screenshots below)

I just thought I’d also point out that if you purchased a copy of Dragon Age Origins, you probably got free stuff for Warhammer inside via a redemption code. Not a bad chance to try it out!
