In the distant past, Starwars.com used to be a very stiff site, chronicling a lot of ‘official’ Star Wars announcements, and not much else. Then they embraced marketing, but were still VERY protective of the intellectual property rights of George Lucas’ creations. More recently, that’s all changed. They’ve embraced fan art, parodies, and have even dipped their toes into the chilly, dangerous waters of viral marketing.
In that vein, some pictures of a small Jawa statue has recently crept into the official Star Wars photostream without explanation. (Of course, this kind of thing isn’t unusual. Pics of Chewbacca pumpkins, dogs dressed up as AT-ATs, and similar stuff creeps in there from time to time). They’re not just any pictures, these are pretty quirky pics. You know, pics of the Jawa on the Golden Gate bridge, on some stairs at The Presidio, or in front of George Lucas’ house.
Today we found out that the Jawa isn’t some quirky fan-made piece of art, it’s an official product: a ‘garden Jawa’. It’s now joining the ranks of all the other weird garden statuary that’s been creeping up of late, including garden zombies, garden gnomes in some unorthodox situations, and even garden bigfoots (bigfeet? Oh, whatever…). If you are a fan of strange garden sculpture, you can pick one of these hand painted garden Jawas right here.
Just for you, we’ve embedded a gallery of the garden Jawa in action. We also threw in some other related pics (at least to my bizarre mind), all for your viewing pleasure.

lol, FANTASTIC gallery!
Great pics. I’m debating getting one of these. I want one, but in my neighborhood, it’ll probably get stolen.
