Disney and Nintendo have gotten together to reinvent Mickey Mouse as a tough guy that even might scare Samuel L. Jackson into giving up his wallet. Disney decided it was time to make Mickey into a more action-oriented video game star, much like that of Mario or Sonic. Huh? The new Mickey even looks kinda… Scary. His name? Behold, EPIC Mickey!
He’s due to start branching out in a new franchise of video gam
es. The first game he’s set to save a destroyed and more remote part of the Disney world which is titled, and this is no joke, Cartoon Wasteland. We wonder if it’s been stricken with the same sort of grief as Capital Wasteland… I just can’t help but think I’m going to have terrifying nightmares of Mickey Mouse ripping apart some Super Mutants with his bare hands.
He’ll meet new and old friends, and the game is set to come out for the Nintendo Wii sometime next year. We wonder how effective this marketing will be, but it does seem like it would be fun to play a guilt-stricken Mickey in a Cartoon Wasteland pounding enemies and trying to redeem himself and the world. Wow, that does sound cool come to think of it.
We only hope there will be blood, but that may be pushing it.
