Last night, ABC TV in the US aired the newly reimagined series, V. It’s a remake of the 80’s miniseries of the same name , about some oh-so friendly aliens that come to visit Earth. Of course, they’re here for our good, just out of the kindness of their alien hearts, and they’re not going to eat us or anything. Nooooooo.
After watching the premier last night, I have to say that this new series has quite a bit going for it. It starts a bit slowly, but picks up quickly afterward. There are a lot of intriguing hints of things to come. The aliens – led by the hottest woman alive, Morena Baccarin – are quickly shown to be manipulative, deceptive, and murderous. What’s worse, they’re ugly – reptilian green creatures wearing human skin. And they smell bad. (Ok, ok, I made up the part where they smell bad, but the rest is true, I tell you!) It’s also revealed that they’ve been living among us humans for a long, long time prior to the invasion, and some of them have fallen in love with human women. Naturally. This is to be expected, of course, because if sci-fi teaches us anything, it’s that aliens have been after our women since the 1950s.
In a nutshell, the series is actually off to a pretty solid start. You can go to the official ABC site to catch a few glipses and clips of the pilot, and the whole series will be viewable on their site starting this Saturday.

Loved Morena/Inara in Firefly.
I liked the old V, though it had that 80s overdone flavor to it. Hoping the new series is as good as the BSG remake was.
