The battle has been brewing for awhile, we saw the heat start to rise awhile ago. Interplay is staking claims to the Fallout MMO, which they are supposed to have until 2011 to develop but have failed to meet several deadlines. While Bethesda is pumping out new content and loving the dollars rolling in for their highly successful Fallout 3, and they have their eyes on the prize. What a tasty prize it is.

Bethesda is trying to take the title from Interplay, certainly loving the money machine and believing themselves proven in terms of creating a well loved Fallout world. It certainly is true, to at least some degree. They clearly have what it takes to make a successful title, and really ugly Super Mutants. They have also shown us time & time again the amount of love and effort they’re willing to throw into the game, whether it be alien abductions or intense violence and gore followed with crack-like addictive game-play.
However, Interplay has a hard-core following who love Fallout for the original series, maybe even willing to subject themselves to biological tests to serve as Interplay’s military branch.
The main argument between Interplay and Bethesda is that Interplay started selling original Fallout games after Fallout 3 was released when it wasn’t supposed too. Neither side agree, of course, and naturally they’re all still tied up in court, currently Bethesda is waiting for Interplay to respond to a 10-day injunction. Almost as exciting as detonating Megaton.
The fact remains that fans simply love the Fallout world. They will do ANYTHING to make it a reality. Seriously, they’ll make anything Fallout, which is the scary part considering it’s a nuclear wasteland. It’s clear the fans would play and love a Fallout MMO… So, hopefully when the dust all clears, regardless of who makes the title, we’ll have one beautiful gem of a game. That is however, if this wraps up before the Enclave is roaming our streets for real.
Regardless of all that, Interplay really doesn’t seem to care and released some first look concept art of their Fallout MMO. Check it out! We’ll keep you posted as the sanitation gets worse.

This is absurd. Interplay is absurd. Bethesda has taken this series to all new heights, and Interplay wants to capitalize on their success. Idiots.
This legal fight will go on forever…..and ever….and ever.
It does seem that way. Interplay was nearly dead until Fallout 3 came out.
id drop my current MMO like a hot stone to play an FO mmo, maybe even stop work for a few weeks, give up a lung or a kidney, even my first born…
