If you’re a WoW player (and who isn’t?), now is a very festive time of year. Of course, I’m referring to Blizzard’s slightly twisted take on Octoberfest, Brewfest. It’s a time for your avatar to drink too much, to ride all crazy fast on a ram, to throw some kegs of beer to Brewfest workers, and to run around town shouting about beer. (Trust me, this all makes perfect sense in World of Warcraft). The goal is to win some fun prizes and get (virtually) drunker than is even possible in the real world.

This year’s Brewfest is new and reformulated, however. Brewfest used to be something of a endurance contest – you had to do the Ram racing delivery thing over, and over, and over again, and the rewards included a Brewfest mount (either a ram or a kodo), though other prizes were also available. This is, sadly, no longer entirely true. In order to get the good prizes (including your unique mount), you now have to travel down to the depths of BRD and slay a special seasonal NPC, Coren Direbrew. Upon Coren’s death – he’s no slouch, either – you’ll get access to all manner of nice rewards. Of course, these include the Brewfest mounts, but also a series of epic trinkets and other doodads.
Overall, this one is probably very much worth doing. So get your group of well-equipped 80s characters together, and and good luck with slaying Coren Direbrew.

and the odds of getting a mount is huge!!!! Its blizzards way of making the mindless ppl who now play wow happy…just like achievements. A ploy to extend the game until the next expansion.
Are the odds that good? My new char is 71, so I don’t think I’ll be down there to grab anything off of Coren to find out personally.
