As you may already be aware, Guild Wars is huge. It’s got 6 million registered players, and is an immensely popular MMO. While it’s an American made game, for reasons I’ve never really been able to figure out, much of its popularity is in Asia. It’s also extremely popular among hard core PvP afficianados. It’s beautiful, very playable, intensely fun and, generally speaking, it’s an A+++ game.

Oddly, Guild Wars 2 has been in development for several years now, and you can’t get a peep out of the developer about it’s progress. Believe me, we here at WG have tried. They won’t say squat, except that the game is scheduled for release sometime in 2010.
And then today, out of nowhere, they release the first official trailer. It’s mostly concept art, but with a few in-game cinematics and gameplay thrown in. Overall, nicely done; check it out below.
Oh, and the news that the tight-lipped Arena Net released along with the trailer? I mean, a developer will usually issue a press release, or some new info, or something to further tantalize fans. Yeah…well, ArenaNet’s announcement said, basically, “We’ve got a new trailer”, and nothing else.
If I ever need someone to keep a secret for me, I’m turning to the ArenaNet people. Seriously.
