China really approaches gaming and Internet addiction in weird ways. Heck, they just recently announced they would stop treating Internet addiction with electric-shock treatment, Seriously. 
This time they’ve went ahead and banned any games glorifying gang-violence in an attempt to clean up their online community as it fills up with more and more vulgar content. It also says violators will be, “severely punished,”. The recent action is also in response to rising popularity in gang-themed movies and games and a sudden resurgence of mafia-like gangs in China.
It sounds good to me and now I can get a Facebook or Myspace account in China and not worry about anymore Mafia Wars spam from my friends… Yay!! What do you think about China’s recent ban? Let us know!
