Hot E3 Goodness

A few highlights from E3 so far:

A new trailer for The Beatles: Rock Band has been released to a (presumably) anxious public.  To celebrate the announcement of this title, Harmonix even had a whole bunch of Beatle-y people at their press conference.  While I’m sure this game will sell millions of copies, I could not personally suppress a few snickers at the cartoony, dorkish quality of the trailer (screencap above).  But don’t listen to me, judge for yourselves:)

Metal Gear Solid Rising was announced.  Not only does this title look hawt, it signals a major change in allegiance away from Sony’s console, and toward Microsoft’s.

All Points Bulletin (sometimes known affectionately by gamers as ”GTA Online”) is getting a big push at this year’s E3:  there were details about marketing and distribution, there are some new screenshots, and a somewhat non-parent friendly trailer was released.

Two Halo titles were announced:

  • Halo ODST is a shooter similar to other Halo titles, but one in which the player assumes the role of an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper instead of Master Chief and his Spartan armor.  In ODST, the player must utilize different tactics, including some stealth elements, due to the fact that he’s a lot more vulnerable than a Spartan.
  • Halo Reach is something of a mystery title.  It’s known that it takes place on the colonized planet Reach, on which many Spartan II’s are stationed, when it falls under attack by Covenant forces.  For your viewing pleasure, the teaser trailer is embedded below.

Stay tuned for more E3 news.  The show officially starts today (though there were some announcements yesterday) and we’ll sort though the crap, and have all the genuinely interesting stuff posted right here, so check back with us later today.
