According to Develop magazine and this recent BBC article, Blizzard Entertainment is the “most bankable” developer in the world. Standing within the industry, review scores of their games, and overall sales were factors in the rankings. The other developers in the top 10 include:
- Blizzard Entertainment
- Nintendo
- Rockstar North
- EA Canada
- Capcom
- Ubisoft Montreal
- Treyarch
- Infinity Ward
- Epic Games
- Bethesda Softworks
Specifically referencing Blizzard’s number one ranking, Michael French of Develop magazine said “Blizzard’s ability to not only create compelling experiences but also court user expectations’ was critical.
Interestingly, EA is the corporate owner of 12 of the developers in the top 100. This is a major turnaround for EA, which used to be regarded as a grindhouse that employees hated. Smaller studios with well-known or popular titles also made the list, including Lionhead, Media Molecule, and even PopCap.
