Incredibly, a company called Sikalosoft published an iPhone app called ‘Baby Shaker’ to the app store this past Monday. It’s a game in which a picture of a baby appears on your iPhone screen, accompanied by crying. In order to get the baby to be quiet, you have to shake the phone. If you do this correctly, red Xs appear over the baby’s eyes.
To absolutely no one’s surpise, some folks are considering this offensive. I mean, a game in which players cause shaken baby syndrome to innocent newborns? It’s hard to imagine anyone finding this funny, but apparently the, um, ‘unique visionaries’ over at Sikalosoft thought this was a good idea. Judge for yourselves:
As you can imagine, various advocacy groups, children’s rights organizations, and anyone with anything resembling ethics are outraged by this app. Apple pulled it from the store yesterday, but offered no explanation as to how this sick ‘game’ ever got approved in the first place.
