BioWare has just released the latest information regarding Ord Mantell, a war-torn mid-rim planet. Ord Mantell isn’t a new creation by the BioWare devs, but has a history going back to The Empire Strikes Back, when it was considered a planet of chaos and criminality. The official history of the planet has gotten a bit of a rewrite for TOR, however, and is now primarily a planet torn apart by civil war. Consider this official lore:
The mountainous plains and volcanic islands of Ord Mantell are littered with the ravages of a ruthless civil war. Republic forces are fighting elusive Separatists who are conducting guerilla style strikes against both military and civilian targets. Adding questions to an already questionable situation, the planet’s government, though loyal to the Republic, is merely a puppet regime for underworld concerns.
