Blizzard has always been big on April Fool’s jokes, and this year is no different. The Blizz EU site is touting a new, upcoming feature called “Pimp My Mount”, in which players can go to a mount-customizing shop and have their ride customized. For a small fee, mounts can be equipped with quite the odd assortment of devices. These apparently include:
- An unbrella
- Light-up hooves
- Hats
- Custom exhaust pipes
- Spoilers
- Drink dispensers
- Cup holders
- Sound systems
- Ejection seats
- A huge spoiler
- Some sort of cannon
- Nitro Boosters
The whole thing is a pretty cute little piece of humor, but they’re not the only MMO playing practical jokes. Consider what has happened to your character in Guild Wars: everyone’s a stick figure. Certainly funny, but it kind of dampens your ability to role-play.
LOTRO apparently has a quest requiring players to play as a chicken and survive a run across the Ettenmoors, earning them the title “The Fool” if they succeed.
On the non-MMO front, there are other pranks cropping up: The Witcher is supposedly being developed for “current-gen, next-gen and gen-after-next-gen handheld systems and is scheduled for release between Tuesday and Friday 2010,” and Diablo III is being developed for the Wii. Suuuuuure they are.
