Yes, Captain Dynamic is the quintessential superhero – handsome, powerful, cool, and suave with the ladies. That makes him the perfect person to promote the newest feature of City of Heroes, the Mission Architect. In this, the third and final episode of his adventures, the good captain takes on his arch-nemesis, The Face. The ensuing battle of wits is as entertaining as it is inevitable.
For the more curious, here’s episode 1 and episode 2 of his (ahem) epic story.
For those that may not be familiar with City of Heroes’ Mission Architect system, here’s the skinny: players can utilize an in-game interface to design missions that they themselves, as well as other players, can play. It’s an impressive system; everything from enemies to environments can be chosen by the player. When players populate their newly designed mission with NPCs, players design their costumes, pick their alignment, and write their dialogue. It’s actually quite amazing. Consider this word from the developers:
…players to design their own missions and story arcs to share with the entire City of Heroes community across all of our live servers. Using an intuitive interface, players can browse through other player created missions and create their own missions from the ground up. Players will determine details ranging from environments, mission objectives, and enemies, to written fiction and character dialogue; giving their stories nearly infinite depth and personalization.
There’s much more to be explored at the official site. If you’re a CoX player, this really is quite the epic development.
