Just days ago, we covered the launch of Darkfall Online. It’s a PvP centric MMO (i.e., a murderfest) that set a new standard for chaotic, out of control, does-anyone-know-what’s-going-on-I-think-this-company-is-run-by-monkeys, game launches. It was baaaaad.
Well, while waiting for the servers to come back up (at one point they were down for 27 hours), one Darkfall fan put together this “behind the scenes on launch day” video, using HL2 and Garry’s Mod. The awesometastic results speak for themselves.
You have to love this kind of player created content. The humor is abundant, the electronic voices are inspired, and the fact that he slapped this together in just a few hours is…well, it’s better than anything I’ve ever done. Thankfully, this Darkfall fanboi isn’t alone. If there was one upside to the horrid launch of Darkfall, it’s the fact that it inspired this, and other player-made vidz. I’ve embedded a select handful after the jump, so check those out, too.
This vid is a nice riff of the recent “berserk lady at the airport video”.
Of course, some created some meta-spoof videos. This one advertised itself as the bloodiest Darkfall battle EVAR!
Also, you apparently can’t even effectively commit suicide in DO. Consider:
I’d also have to add this: after what is probably the worst launch in history, fans of the Darkfall MMO seem to certainly be a forgiving bunch. The unbelievable whining that has accompanied the launch of other games – games with far fewer problems than Darkfall had – has already, a few short days later, faded to merely a wimper. Darkfall fans have also proven themselves to be a resiliant, humorous bunch, using their time in-game and out to make a whole series of parody videos. Many of them, too, are very nicely done.
[Thanks Maticus for the submission!]
