Some Australian gamers are fed up with their game rating system, as there doesn’t seem to be a rating that exists for R18+ games. So when ultra violent or sexual games seek a rating, if it’s something that is too intense for the ratings they have, it’s rejected and thus, unreleased. Some examples of games that have been reduced to this are Fallout 3 and Silent Hill: Homecoming.
Well, as much as that sucks for gamers in Australia, they aren’t going to take it lying down. They’re actually organizing an event where they will dress up in their favorite cosplay and protest the situation in front of the Parliament House.
Will this be effective? Some tend to think it will have negative rather then positive effects on the situation, as policy-makers will fail to take them seriously. But to be honest, I’m really not sure how you can’t take a sexy Night Elf or a ripped Ryu seriously.
Either way, it is action, and hopefully this will shed more light on the fact that Australians are getting the shaft on some great games.

The problem isn’t the central government itself – the problem is that the classification laws for Australia are set by the “Attourney-General” (i could have this title wrong) – there’s one from each state, and they together work out those laws. All but one of them is fine with upgrading the classification for videogames to modern status, but as long as that one general refuses – it isn’t going through.
It’s a shame when things like this can’t be worked out and get caught up in a stereotypical bureaucratic situation.
Hopefully this can get resolved soon.
Whoever that one guy is, he’s an idiot.
