How Geeks Propose: A Tutorial

According to several odd news bits, our fellow gamers and tech geeks not only have real-life girlfriends, they also come up with creative ways to propose to them.  Consider these fine examples:

1.  Google employee gets himself, holding a “will you marry me” sign, photographed by his buddies who work for Street View.  Google guy then simply persuades his girl to check out the precise coordinates on Google Maps, and viola! instant geeky internet proposal.

2.  Several geeks have used iPhone applications to send their girlfriends on romantic scavenger hunts.  Of course, the final prize is a big diamond ring.

3. How about proposing via Slashdot?  If you title your story with your girlfriend’s name, she’ll probably read it.  (It worked.  In this case, she accepted in the comments.)

4.  Hacking a computer game (two examples include Chrono Trigger and Bejewelled) to spell out a proposal to your gamer girlfriend.

5.  Lay out a proposal, using in-game weapons, in Halo 3.  Your girlfriend/Spartan will love the crazy romance that only a in-game futuristic FPS proposal can provide.

6.  Oh, and if you happened to have invented “Magic: The Gathering” then you can have your company make up a special card that proposes to your girl.

So what happens after she says a happy “Yes”?  Hit the jump to see the extremely geeky results.
