You might think this is interesting. I surely did. A Dutch university graduate has done a comparison of the World of Warcraft and many of the traits of religion and found that WoW could also be considered a religion. Uh what? That’s right. WoW….a religion.

World of Warcraft meets many of the criteria accepted as it meets the four dimensions required to constitute one by French sociologist Danil Hervieu-Lger’s: Community, ethics, culture and emotion.
There is certainly a healthy WoW community, the rules could be considered ethics, the Warcraft Mythos or Lore is the culture and the emotion is the feeling we get from playing WoW.
Interesting huh? Well, off to church I go, I’ve got dailies to complete and a ton of ethical ganking to perform.
