Glider Takes Another Hit

Everyone’s favorite WoW botting program, Glider, created by MDY Industries LLC, took another damaging blow. We’ve reported on the ongoing battle between the Glider people and Blizzard before. Blizzard was already winning this battle, scoring a major victory last year.

Judge Dredd was on the case and has decided that Glider is in violation of the DMCA’s ban on “circumvention devices,” and not only that, but the creator, Michael Donnelly, is personally liable for the actions of MDY Industries. Ouch.

The judge also declared that Michael be physically punished with a wiffle ball bat by each individual WoW player that feels Glider ruined their game experience. Although the judge did stop short of actually sentencing him to physical abuse, Michael may be wishing for that, versus what may happen to his wallet if this decision stands up.

We’ll be keeping our eyes on this, as it’s a pretty safe assumption that this will be appealed. On another interesting note, none of this seems to be stopping the distribution of Glider or the function of their website. It seems Blizzards endless pockets aren’t gonna make them accept their fate just yet.
