Veteran MMO bloggers Keen and Graev received a most curious package from Mythic. It’s some red (orange?) hair dye, and set of clippers, and a message that says, “More to come, 1-29-09.”
Being the students of Warhammer that they are, Keen and Graev did a little digging, and figured out that this might be a reference to the Dwarf Slayer, a melee DPS class that shaves their heads and dons orange mohawks.
Could this mean that the melee DPS classes that were eliminated from the game before launch will be re-introduced late this month? It’s hard to say, though this hint surely points to that possibility. Mark Jacobs, big boss man at Mythic, promised they’d return.
One quick note on the re-introduction of classes: from my own long MMO-playing experience, I can assure you that there is no company in all of gaming that keeps their promises like Mythic.
Edit: we did a little digging of our own, and recalled this little tidbit: two classes cut from the game prior to launch were the previously mentioned Orc Choppa and the Dwarf Hammerer, not the Slayer. However, Jacobs hinted in this interview on the fact that only one of the two classes would return to the game. The other melee DPS class would be replaced. So….does this mean the Orc Choppa and the new Dwarf Slayer are slated to enter the fray? We’re thinking (and hoping) so.
