Fortress battles in Warhammer have proven problematic.? The problem, specifically, is that too many people are crowding into the forts, and this is causing server instability.? Crashing isn’t a fun game experience, so the good people over at Mythic are fixing things.
Their solution is…well, it’s hard to call it a fix, exactly.? See, we sort of expected them to make the zone more stable.? You know, do some back-end programming magic, and solve the problem.? Instead, Mythic has chosen to solve the problem in a somewhat more curious fashion: by teleporting people out of the zone.? I suppose it makes a kind of sense.? If the problem is that crowding is freaking the game out, then just eliminate the crowding.
Hit the jump for all the strange details.
Of course, it’s not much fun for the players.? If you’re a rank 35 player, and the fortress becomes too crowded, then *BAMF*, you’re magically auto-teleported to a nearby warcamp.? If it’s too crowded still, and a player is level 37 or below, then *BAMF*, he’s off to the warcamp, too.? And if things are still too crowded, then the players who are all level 39 and below all get bamfed out of the fort also.? Only the level 40s will be allowed to play.
Is it just me, or does this sound like a deeply craptacular solution to anyone else?? Why not just fix the stability problem, and let people play the game?? Further, what happens when nearly everyone is level 40, which will happen quite soon in WAR?? Will the stability problem be really fixed by then, or will random *BAMF*ing occur?
You can read more of this odd story here and here.?
