Funcom has a holiday give-away contest going on, and it features some nice goodies. Simply by sending an email to Funcom, Age of Conan players have a chance to win one of the following:
- The brand new Snow Mammoth
- The War Mammoth
- The Killer Rhino
- Ring of Acheron
- Drinking Cape
- Bag of Holding
- Amazon Bow
- Totem of Origins
Wait a minute, most of that stuff seems somewhat familiar. Where have i seen it before? Oh yeah, now I remember. It’s the same stuff they included in the collector’s edition, or to people that pre-ordered the game when it first launched.
Now look, I’m not against recycling the occasional in-game trinket under the right circumstances, but this looks like a wholesale operation. Early AoC players went to the trouble of pre-ordering, or paid extra for exclusive items, and now Funcom is giving those items away as holiday prizes. (Some might object to Funcom’s re-imagined definition of the word “exclusive”. Just sayin’ is all.) With the layoffs at Funcom, maybe this is all they could come up with; I guess all the recycled items means it’s a thrift-store Christmas in the Hyborian Age this year.
