PvP In-Game is OK. PvP in Real Life? Not So Much.

Zhenghau Shen, 21, is a Chinese student attending college in Australia. While at his apartment, playing WoW with three other friends and roommates, Shen got really into the game. The volume on his computer was turned up so loud, his friends protested. After being repeatedly asked to turn the sound down, Shen got into quite a dispute with his roommies. Things went really downhill when one of the roommates threatened to beat Shen up.

Shen took matters into his own hands. He grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen and stabbed one of his roommates in the head. The roommate also suffered a severely lacerated finger in the scuffle, which was described as “nearly severed.” Shen was arrested, hauled before the court, and is currently awaiting trial.

Of course, being the philosophical bunch that we are here at Wandering Goblin, we feel there are two life lessons to be learned here. The first? While playing an MMO with your friends, try to keep the volume at a reasonable level. The second? During any MMO-related disputes, try to avoid stabbing your friends in the frakkin’ head. (Avoiding the severing of fingers is also somewhat important).
