Wait…I’m Confused

Recently, we learned that 1.5 million copies of WAR have been sold.? That’s an outstanding figure. Today, we also learned that 500,000 people have signed up for Warhammer accounts.? That’s another outstanding figure.

The problem is, the two figures don’t jive.? Is anyone else wondering where those other 1,000,000 games are?? I mean, they sold a million and a half, but only half a million people are playing?? HuhWhatExcuseMe?? We tossed the idea around, and came up with some theories.

1.? By sheer mathematical coincidence, a million geeks all have birthdays in October.? Because mom and dad don’t give presents early, they’re just going to have to wait for their Waaaagh.

2.? There are a million retail copies of the game sitting on retail shelves.? In fact, the entire games section at every Best Buy in the country is reportedly clogged with unsold WAR boxes.

3.? A million copies were sold online, but Amazon.com really, really screwed up.??

4.? Santa Klaus bought them, and is holding onto them for Christmas.

5.? The Department of Homeland security misunderstood the whole “War is everywhere” theme, and is holding onto the games for questioning.

Ok, ok, the game’s only been out for 10 days, and it’s too soon to have actual hard numbers of sales and players.? And yes, congratulations to Mythic are in order.? But I simply prefer to think that, somewhere, some gold seller is hording 1,000,000 copies of the game so he can continue to hawk his wares in-game no matter how many times Mythic suspends his account.? Tongue out
