A Facelift for Wandering Goblin

As you may have already noticed, we’ve been doing a bit of work here at Wandering Goblin. The scoop is that there have been some odd behavioral problems on the back end of the site…things you probably wouldn’t ever had noticed, but were really plaguing the performance of the site. We tried everything we could think of to fix them, but nothing worked. At a certain point, we even hired an exorcist, but the demons just wouldn’t be driven out. Cool

Yeah, we tried to exorcise our website. (It didn’t work).

As it turned out, the various bugs and problems were the result of some corrupt code deep in our content management system. That was good news and bad news. The good news was that we’d finally figured out what was wrong. The bad news was that the entire CMS had to be reinstalled from scratch. Ugh.

Let us reassure you, faithful friends, that reinstalling the entire thing is a fairly substantial pain in the glutes, and took a full day longer than we’d anticipated. Even though it’s done, there are a lot of things that need to be tweaked, poked, and molded back into shape the way their supposed to be. So if, over the next couple of days, you see some odd quirks on the site, it means that something needs some tweaking, hasn’t been tweaked yet, or got tweaked wrong, and we’re trying to figure out which one of us screwed up and how to fix it. Laughing
