Lyndon LaRouche is quite the character. I remember his presidential bid when I was younger; he openly compared himself to Socrates and the other great minds of history. His commercial was so bad – his picture faded in over a bust of Socrates using something akin to advanced light box technology – it looked like some grade school kids made it. His politics were at least as looney then as they are now.

His organization has taken to ranting about gaming in recent years, attributing many tragedies to the spread of violent video games. They have an “evidence be damned” approach to things, which keeps their rants entertaining. Example: Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech mass murderer, is accused of being an avid player of violent games. He definitively was not, but that doesn’t stop LaRouche’s people from claiming it anyway.

Of particular note is the fact that LaRouche’s organization has targeted World of Warcraft for hamstringing our society. In one piece, WoW, EVE Online, Entropia Universe, and other games are blamed for the fact that young people haven’t yet discovered nuclear fusion.

Yeah, WoW and EVE are keeping us all down. Where’s my super-cheap nuclear fusion?

Well, it seems that today that the LaRouche organization has compiled many of their video game papers into one concise list for your reading pleasure. Be warned; the list doesn’t contain any links, so you’ll still have to Google the papers themselves if you’d like to read one. Also, if you do choose to read one, you probably won’t read another. Ever. They’re really long, and really dry, and chock full of conspiracy theories.

In conclusion, I’d like to offer the following video. Though I could not find the Socrates-LaRouche video I remember from my youth, I did manage to find this one, in which ol’ Lyndon accuses former vice president (and all around nice guy) Walter Mondale of being a KGB agent. It gives you a feel for LaRouche politics in general. Enjoy.
