Blizzard WWI: The Beginning

Blizz has truly spared no expense in the making of this years World Wide Invitational. There are hot air balloons, concerts, Blizzard Celeb’s and mobs of adoring fans. Truly this is an event larger than even than that of E3 proportions. The event is being help at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, a city known for its PC gamers, some of them even more famous than Brad Pitt and Michael Jordon. Korea takes its gaming very seriously, I would not be surprised if their government lobbies for on-line gaming becoming an Olympic event.

We were met by our PR Rep Julia, who can tame even the most savage of beasts. I’m sure she could talk a madman off the ledge without breaking a sweat. She led us around the venue doling out directions left and right like the veteran that she is. It is no wonder that Blizzard EU has her in the position that she is in. She truly handles everything with a class that all World Leaders should use as an example. The press can be a savage beast, often times rail-roading innocent bystanders, that is until they get to Julia.

Seriously, we thought that the EU and US were sending a ton of reporters for press coverage. Check out the queue for the Korean press.

Our first event of the day is the Opening Ceremony and New Product Announcement, this is where they tell everyone that Elvyra was right and that they are releasing World of Starcraft!!!! Just kidding, seriously!

Joking aside, Blizzard has strategically kept the new release a big secret and considering the size of Blizzard and the amount of people it employs, I don’t know how they did it. I can only imagine that Chris Metzen is in his Makeup Trailor, giddy as a school-girl, unable to wait a minute longer and counting down. Blizzardites and press buzz around me like a swarm of honey-bees looking for their next cache of pollen. The energy is amazing and the adrenaline is plenty!!! WHERE’S MY COKE?!

There is so much more to this event, so I’m gonna go find out about some more goodness. For the record, Blizzard EU loves its Press and it shows. We thank Julia and Christian for getting handling the logistics of getting us here and we truly are endebted to our host Worldofwar.net for getting us into this venue.
